The hard part of packaging applications is navigating the world of Project Managers, User Acceptance Testing, Functional Testing, finding and coordinating with the Application Owners / Subject Matter Experts and basically juggling the ever changing priorities of the business.

That was my aim for this book. I do provide ways to set up a test lab for free on Windows 7 and 8 and obtaining free software while showing you how to develop best practices and habits that I had to learn the hard way. But more over the value in this book is getting knowledge of my years’ experience working for many Fortune 500 companies as a consultant and direct hire to navigate the shark infested waters that is a project that affects all of the desktops and laptops in a company while the project is way behind and already over budget. I hope to teach you ways of providing quick wins to get project managers and others working with you and more importantly how you can work smarter on harder, more time consuming packages. My hope is to make you look good as you know the best processes and procedures to follow. Application packaging has a lot of websites out there that can teach you the technology (which I link to and provide some examples) but what they don’t show you is how to succeed even if you can’t package the application for the business. To make a name for yourself as one who can do the impossible and one who can let the business know when to cut their losses on an application using real world return on investment calculations.
