First of all, my husband and I have a shared Amazon account. This is not R. Barrington writing, but his wife.I am a psychotherapist, and I am an open-minded skeptic. What this means is that I seek diligently after what I hope is truth, but I question the content fairly critically. I listen closely to my own inner compass, and I try out what is offered before I decide if it is true or not. This takes time and effort.I have read and sought widely ideas that can help me, and those I serve, live in a world that often seems dysfunctional and full of suffering. In writing this review I bring a great deal of knowledge around the nexus of science, consciousness, and philosophy.I have followed Abraham-Hicks for quite some time. I have often felt mixed about what I observe. There is plenty of evidence to suggest to the rational mind that Esther and Jerry Hicks might have been in the spirituality “business” for the money. There is much in what they offer that makes me wonder if it is not a big con. However, after considering the actual content in their books and videos, I can only conclude that what is shared in these materials is truly helpful. I have read “Ask and It Shall be Given.” The skeptic in me often scoffed at the overabundance of positivity therein. However, when it came down to it, I found the processes shared in that book truly effective for shifting one’s mindset, as well as building greater capacity to operate from a more centered place in one’s being. Carl Jung has said that the truth is “what works”; “The truth is what helps you live.” The books written by Abraham-Hicks do help you live. This book is interesting to me for how it connects with the ideas presented within the community of out-of-body explorers, like Thomas Campbell and William Buhlman. It is pretty far out stuff, but most of the people who explore out-of-body state that they don’t want you to believe them. They encourage you to learn the techniques required, and go and find out for yourself. I trust this stance. We can only learn the truth of what works by practicing the ideas offered and learning for ourselves. The perspective offered by those who travel out of body is one that can shake every assumption we hold as a “typical” 21st-century human being. What these explorers suggest is that we are all beings of consciousness that operate multidimensionally and that living in the physical plane has a very important and distinct purpose related to the further purpose of evolution of the total system of consciousness. These are big ideas that cannot be covered in an Amazon review, but if you’re curious I suggest you check out these authors.Abraham-Hicks suggest this same big picture perspective. They suggest that the physical plane is the leading edge of an expanding multidimensional consciousness, and that we can effectively navigate our true path within this enormous big picture reality by being aware of our feeling-emotional states and tuning the way we operate according to what we observe in these feeling states. The idea that we can feel our way toward the emerging future that we ourselves are creating make sense to me. Our feelings states are the surest guide of efficacy. How we feel definitely tells us how well we are living life. Few people possess the skills to live from their highest potential. Too much confusion is sowed from our collective culture as we grow and develop. We emerge as adults confused and disconnected from our natural abilities to guide our life from our feeling function. However, I can attest to the fact that when individuals are living from their highest potential they feel fantastic. If more people had “to feel“ lists, rather than “to do“ lists, their lives would transform drastically for the better.Of course, there is much more to it than that. This book offers a novel and transformational perspective that can change your life for the better, if you can digest and integrate what is being offered.

The reason that I know that everything in this book is absolutely true is because after reading this I get an unexplained rush of energy that is truly supernatural. I'm not kidding and if you read Ask and it is Given you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. It's like my soul is giving me a signal that this is real. It's true that its mostly redundant stuff from Ask and it is Given but that's a good thing because I've read Ask and it is Given so many times I'm memorizing the words. At least now they're mixed around and I still get my burst of energy. I was going through a really tough time in my life when I read the Abraham/Hicks books and it's still amazing to me that I went from a deep depression to one of the best moods I've ever been in. A lot of people get this feeling after reading the Bible but I get it from reading spiritual books including the Abraham/Hicks books.

This is an excellent book to read if you are just starting out with the Law of Attraction or want to add to the knowledge you already have. It will clarify some questions you may have about manifesting. On the other hand, you can get the same information from their Youtube videos.

The second of the Hicks books that I've read - and this one largely mirrored the first. There is a component where Esther and Jerry discuss their relationship with "Abraham", their name for Collective Consciousness. Then they take the reader through elements to discuss the power of positive thought, the impact of vibration on the manifestation of desires, and the interrelationship between the mind and physical creation. The middle of the book contains affirmations and analysis of several example issues (like the overbearing parent or the bad job), as well as a description of the 22 levels of the Emotional Guidance Scale. They then walk the reader through example exercises and techniques to raise the vibrations from dismal to hopeful and beyond.Whether you buy into the Collective Consciousness, the mediumship of Esther, the concept of vibratory resonance, or the New Age thinking, the principles of positive thought, impacting the subconscious, and viewing things in a positive light - or glass half full - espoused in the book is useful for anyone. The book is a quick and easy read, and the techniques it contains should be effective in promoting positive thought and positive results.

Of all the Abraham books I have read, so far this one is my favorite. I should add that I have not read their vortex book yet, and I am looking forward to doing so.The first half of this book is an expansion upon the ideas presented in Ask and It is Given. I think the information presented here was even more stimulating than the previous book. The chapters on Vibrational Relativity and Finding Alignment are particularly helpful. Also helpful are the chapters on Improved Vibrational Relativity and The Action Journey and the Emotional Journey. This book also contains some of the best processes Abraham has offered. Most notable is the Focus-Wheel, often mentioned by Abraham elsewhere. This is where Abraham first explained the process and gave examples applied to various situations. The biggest problem I found in this book was wading through the several chapters on Vibrational Relativity regarding.... Also the several chapters regarding balancing desires and beliefs. These chapters become very redundant. I think they would have worked much better formatted into tables. That would have made the information much easier to scan and reference. That complaint aside, any Abraham book is worth reading. They do the best job of presenting the mechanics of manifestation.

The Green Mile: The ScreenplayBy Frank Darabont

Featuring extensive stills from the actual film, the screenplay is a faithful adaptation of King's bestselling story of a death-row block at Cold Mountain Correctional Facility, called "The Green Mile" because the trip to the electric chair is called "Walking the Mile" and the floor leading to the electric chair is made of green tile. Narrated by the elderly Paul Edgecombe (Tom Hanks plays the young Paul Edgecombe), who reminisces about his days as the superintendent of death row during the 1930s. Edgecombe tells of the mysterious John Coffey (played by Armageddon's Michael Clark Duncan), a prisoner with the body of a giant and the mind of a child, who allegedly murdered two young girls. While Coffey awaits his execution, he displays odd supernatural powers that cause the inmates and guards to question their beliefs about everything they hold dear.

Amazon.com Review
Stephen King fans fervently awaited The Green Mile, filmmaker Frank Darabont's second movie adaptation of a King novel (the first being The Shawshank Redemption, another period piece set in prison). The Green Mile: The Screenplay reveals Darabont's deft script style despite nary a character description. The adaptation must be one of the most pure ever written; nearly every character and major scene from the novel is represented in the screenplay, often with verbatim dialogue. Both Darabont and King contribute introductions, illustrating the warm friendship between the two, and detailed film credits, drawings of two storyboarded sequences, and 20 black-and-white photos enrich the script. For those interested in witnessing how a movie changes from screenplay to final product, the shooting script version of The Shawshank Redemption makes for a far more intriguing read--and Darabont's post-production essay on the metamorphosis is fascinating. --Doug Thomas

I Feel Like Going On: Life, Game, and GloryBy Ray Lewis, Daniel Paisner

Ray Lewis, legendary Baltimore Ravens linebacker and one of the greatest defensive players of his generation, holds nothing back on the state of football as well as his troubled childhood, his rise to athletic greatness, the storm that threatened to ruin his NFL career, and the devastating injury that nearly cost him a final moment of glory.

A lot of folks, they know my game, but they don’t know my deal. This book right here, it tells the story of my seventeen-year NFL career. It tells of my two Super Bowls, the mark I was blessed to be able to make on the game, on the city of Baltimore. But it also tells the story of how I grew up—abandoned by my no-account father, raised with my siblings by our God-fearing, hardworking single mother. It tells how I sometimes struggled off the field. It tells of the anguish and controversy that found me away from the game.

Mostly, it tells how heartbreak can sometimes lift you to greatness and glory—if you find a way to put your focus in faith, and faith in your focus.

When I left the game, confetti raining down on me and my teammates after winning the Super Bowl, I made a promise to myself to show how the game is really played at the highest level. That’s what you’ll find in these pages—a raw, honest look at the business of football and a look behind the scenes at some of the most torturous aspects of the game. The grind of the NFL—that’s what shines through.

My deal? That grind is a given. Every player who wears an NFL uniform has to slog through the same battles just to get to the league. But it’s how you prepare for those battles that defines you—and here I hope to show how an unwavering trust in God and an unbreakable sense of purpose can lift you from tragedy to triumph. From strength to strength, man—that’s the deal.
